This will help the interviewer to place the symptoms into the context of the client's life in order to get a better perspective. Usually, there are some problematic aspects of the prospective client's early family so I will also attempt to achieve an impression of how it was experienced by you. If possible, I may point out a theme or two that seems to have had a lot of staying-power or I may point out a connection that I think you the client might not have made by him/herself. This, in fact, is the meat and potatoes, so to speak, of the coaching/psychotherapy experience. Near the end of the session I will provide some feedback on what appears to be the problem and make some recommendations. I cannot and do not take all clients; this is due to the availability of time, it’s all about balance. In some cases it may be decided with one interview weather or not we will be working together, however in some cases it may take two. In ether case the interview is free. In all cases, I will attempt to arrange a referral to a therapist or coach who is experienced in the area you need to work. |
